Thoughts and musings of an old codger.

Go West, Old Man, go west   - Thursday 25-8-22

From June, through July to mid August, drought conditions prevailed here in the East, so thoughts arose about getting away again.

We were booked for a couple of days at the end of August at The Great Dorset Steam Fair, so decided to take in a bit of Dorset first, then Devon and Cornwall. My wife went down a week earlier to stay with her daughter and grandkids, and like we for the Wales trip, she would get a bus to somewhere half way and I would meet her.
Believe it or not, it is cheaper to get a bus from Falmouth to London than Falmouth to Bristol, so she booked a ticket to London, and got off at Leigh Delamare services [they stop there to change drivers] where I collected her on the way to Wales.
National Express though have got wise to this loophole, and will not let you know where the bus will stop, even though it is still at the same place. As it happens, daughter and twins were going to stay with a friend in Somerset so we met up at Cerne Abbas Brewery instead, which was much more interesting anyway.
